Funding to Expand Housing for Homeless Families

Family hugging

Thanks to a new grant, Hope Solutions will expand housing and services in 2016-2017 to provide 20 new units of affordable housing to families facing extreme poverty and chronic homelessness. This scattered site program will be modeled after a program launched last year serving 48 chronically homeless adults. This new supportive housing will be available in Contra Costa County and families will have access to a mobile service team who will ensure they have access to groceries, healthcare, employment and academic support, life skills training, counseling, and other vital resources to help them achieve self-sustainability and rebuild their lives. Recent estimates indicate that as many as 3,500 local residents are without a home or safe place to sleep at night and families with children are the fastest growing segment of the homeless population nationwide. Together with our community partners, we are committed to providing dignity and stability to end homelessness.
