Education is vital in breaking the cycle of poverty. Studies show that the education of homeless children is severely affected by traumatic events and stressful living situations. This summer, Garden Park Apartment’s Youth Enrichment Coordinator Martine Blake and volunteer Trish Konzak developed a preschool program for eighteen children under the age of five living on-site to help children develop a love of learning. Hands-on activities and creative games helped toddlers develop skills to succeed in school. Many families participating in our program are now enrolled in preschool at the local elementary school.
