Hope Village Cottages Grand Opening: December 10

In a huge milestone for Hope Solutions and Contra Costa County, the new cottages at Hope Village Walnut Creek have arrived on site at Grace Presbyterian Church. The new cottage community is the first affordable cottage community established on faith-owned land in Contra Costa County. This groundbreaking project aims to provide dignified housing and essential supportive services for individuals experiencing homelessness.

The community is a partnership between Grace Presbyterian Church Walnut Creek, Hope Solutions, Firm Foundation Community Housing, HomeAid Northern California, Pulte Homes and the City of Walnut Creek. This cottage community of six homes represents a bold step forward in addressing the pressing issue of affordable and accessible housing in our community. Strategically located on church property, Hope Village Walnut Creek maximizes underutilized land to provide individuals who are unsheltered with a dignified place to call home.

These homes were built in a factory in Dublin, while crews simultaneously commenced work at the church site in Walnut Creek, saving time in the building process. The units were than transported to the location and craned onto their foundations.

These innovative, smaller, footprint homes are constructed to the same high-quality standards as traditional housing, complete with a kitchenette, bathroom and shower, bed, and dining area. Hope Village will include shared amenities such as an outdoor patio space, laundry facility, and an office. On-site social services will be coordinated and delivered by Hope Solutions.

Join us for the grand opening and ribbon-cutting ceremony on Tuesday, December 10, at 3 p.m. Key speakers will deliver remarks, including Pastor Mark Burnham of Grace Presbyterian Church, Mayor Cindy Darling of Walnut Creek, Jasmine Tarkoff of Strategic Initiatives at Hope Solutions, Deanne Pearn, CEO of Hope Solutions, Taryn Sandulyak, Executive Director of Firm Foundation Community Housing, Crisand Giles, Executive Director of HomeAid Northern California, and Jeff Scofield, Vice President of Procurement at Pulte Homes.

After the speeches, we will officially cut the ribbon to celebrate this momentous occasion. Attendees can tour the new homes and learn about the supportive services available to residents.
