Year-Round Volunteer Opportunities

Food Donation Information

Homework Club

rsz_hwc_lakeside_amanda_and_monicaHelp close the achievement gap and set students up for success by becoming a Homework Club volunteer at one of our four Homework Clubs located in Pleasant Hill, Concord, Pittsburg, and Bay Point. To ensure consistency, we ask for a commitment of one day/week for the school year. Orientation and training are provided.

To begin this process, click here to complete an application. An interview and reference check will follow. Volunteers will be asked to pass a TB test and Live Scan background check.

If you’d like to drop-off donations, please contact Sandibel Arnold, Volunteer and Donations Coordinator at sarnold@hopesolutions.org.

Social Events

rsz_dsc00373Social events are an important part of the stability and health of our communities. By providing a nutritious meal, you are helping to nourish and encourage residents to become self-sufficient and better their lives. Opportunities include monthly resident dinners, seasonal activities (such as a holiday party), and summer barbecues. Click here to learn more!

Furnishings Program

Help furnish an apartment and make a home. IMG_6494Our furnishings program provides formerly homeless families with the necessary basics of a dignified, clean, and beautiful home. Help by donating needed items or become a project volunteer.

If you have gently used furniture or other items to be considered, please contact Sandibel Arnold at sarnold@hopesolutions.org.

June 2021 Furnishings and Donations Requests

*Please note that donations are accepted based on the availability of Hope Solutions storage capacity. At this time, we are not accepting used clothing or toys.

We are seeking volunteers for the following:

Inventory Coordinator – Coordinate, assess, and organize specific furnishings for each new family.
Transportation/Hauling Volunteer – Do you have a truck or have the ability to lift heavy items? We could use your help!
Set-Up Volunteer – Help set up and beautify apartments before a family moves in.

Annual Gala: Ruby Slippers – There’s No Place Like Home

Join our annual auction gala committee! Be an event sponsor, donate live or silent auction items, volunteer at the event, or help make it all happen by joining our fun Ruby Slippers committee. In 2021, this fun (virtual) event netted over $324,000 to help formerly homeless and low-income families and at-risk individuals achieve their greatest potential. If you missed this year’s gala or wish to view it again, click here.

Mark your calendar for the 14th Annual Hope Solutions Ruby Slippers – There’s No Place Like Home on Saturday, March 5, 2022. The Ruby Slippers Committee is planning an in-person event which will be at Blackhawk Auto Museum in Danville. We can’t wait to celebrate with you!

To get involved with the planning committee, donate items to the live or silent auctions, or to contribute wine to the auctions, please contact Carrie Veurink at cveurink@hopesolutions.org.
