Thanks to the generosity of more than 290 friends of Hope Solutions, this year’s Ruby Slippers-There’s No Place Like Home raised $230,000 in net proceeds to support Contra Costa residents impacted by poverty and homelessness.

The highlight of the evening was hearing Arlene, a resident from Hope Solutions’ new Families in Supportive Housing (FISH) program, tell her harrowing story of living in a car with her four children for three years. In November, Arlene and her family became permanently housed and are adjusting to a new life filled with the warmth and safety of a home and hope for a bright future. She received a standing ovation as she shared her appreciation for Hope Solutions and the housing and support services she has received. Rabbi Roberto Graetz offered a moving tribute to Louise Bourassa, for her years of leadership at Hope Solutions. Louise responded by reminding us of the extraordinary community support that makes our important work possible.
