Each Summer the staff of Hope Solutions organizes Camp Hope to provide summer fun and enrichment to the youth in our programs. This year, ‘Camp Hope 2022,’ offered a variety of activities to the children at Los Medanos Village, Lakeside, and Garden Park Apartments, including cooking, art, career discovery, drama, and reading.
Cooking was a big hit with the kids this summer. In a series of camps, the children in our program were introduced to different foods from different countries, as well as how to eat healthy and prepare a meal with what ingredients they have at home. In one of the cooking camps, the kids enjoyed Chinese, French, and Italian food, while at another camp, they prepared an original – quesadillas with mango salsa and classic broccoli mac n’ cheese.
In addition to cooking together, the children at Camp Hope were able to practice reading skills during Drama Camp and Reading Circles; they had a chance to get creative during Art Camp and learn about different career paths during College and Career discovery camps.
