Our housing development is driven by a bold commitment outlined in our 2025–2029 Strategic Plan: to increase the number of permanent, supportive homes for families and individuals in Contra Costa County.
By expanding the homes we own, lease, and operate by 50%—from 140 to 210 units by 2029—our strategy centers on innovative cottage communities, adaptive reuse of surplus properties, and new collaborations with faith-based partners. Each development is a cornerstone in our larger mission: to heal generational impacts of homelessness and poverty, foster resilience, and ensure every person in our community has a safe, affordable place to call home.
OUR NEWEST COMMUNITIES
Hope Village Walnut Creek
A vibrant community of six high-quality cottage homes at Grace Presbyterian Church offers seniors experiencing homelessness a dignified, secure place to call home. Each thoughtfully designed cottage features a kitchenette, and full bath. Residents have access to a communal outdoor patio, laundry, and an onsite office for support services.
Opened December 2024
- First cottage community on faith-owned land in Contra Costa County
- Built on underutilized church parking, maximizing resources and creating community connections
Village of Hope - Pittsburg (Coming soon!)
Slated for completion in 2026, Hope Village Pittsburg will offer 15 cottages (studio, 1- and 2-bedroom) for youth ages 18–25 facing homelessness. Built on faith-owned land, the campus will also include an onsite service office and computer lab. This project was awarded $1.77M in Measure X funding—the second largest allocation in the county for 2025.
El Portal Place - San Pablo
El Portal Place is a pioneering conversion of a vacant commercial building into 54 supportive apartments for adults who have experienced homelessness. In only 2.5 years, this project transformed a disused structure into a thriving community with recreation areas, a dog park, EV parking, and room for gardens. Hope Solutions was selected by Contra Costa County to be the onsite case management and service provider.
