Senator Tim Grayson and Amber King

Amber has dedicated her life to being a source of hope and support for those in need within her community. Her journey began with the Contra Costa County – Assisted Outpatient Treatment program, where she supported individuals struggling with severe behavioral health challenges and homelessness. She learned the importance of meeting people where they are, not just physically, but with compassion and understanding. From there, Amber joined Hope Solutions, where she currently works with people reentering society after incarceration. In this role, she assists justice-involved clients as they rebuild their lives, helping connect them to housing, stability, and essential resources.

Every day, she witnesses the power and strength of the human spirit. Her work has shown her that being a contributing part of the community is about showing up and extending empathy without judgment.

Every day, I witness the power and strength of the human spirit. My work has shown me that being a contributing part of my community is about showing up and extending empathy without judgement.

Beyond her professional life, Amber is a proud mother of three wonderful children. Balancing motherhood and community work has shaped her into the person she is today: resilient, compassionate, and deeply committed. Her children inspire her daily to lead by example and to create a better, more inclusive world for them and for others. Receiving the Travis Credit Union Foundation scholarship allowed Amber to continue growing as a community advocate and strengthened her ability to serve those who need it most.

Amber’s goal is to continue being a voice for the vulnerable and a support for those struggling. The scholarship has helped relieve some of the financial stress that often comes from continuing one’s education. Amber feels motivated and invigorated to keep working hard as an employee of Hope Solutions and as a student pursuing her goal of becoming a therapist.
