At Hope Solutions we are blessed with volunteers who bring their passions to support our work. Margaret “Decky” Thornton uses her talent and love of music to help the population we serve. Decky is a violinist who has performed in many venues. In 2013, she initiated the St. Andrews Presbyterian Church Chamber Recitals (in Pleasant Hill), as an opportunity to showcase the area’s amazing musicians and raise funds for Hope Solutions.
“The event started with the idea of combining the love of music and connection with other avid musicians in the Bay Area with a fundraiser in 2006 when I retired from my 31-year career in juvenile justice, which I loved,” says Decky of the Chamber Recitals. “It was an experiment in collaboration which quickly turned into a win-win for musicians, audiences, and Hope Solutions — and is still going strong.”
The quarterly concerts were paused for the last several years due to COVID-19 but have come back monthly since February to make up for the lost time. These events have helped raise thousands of dollars for Hope Solutions and introduced us to countless new supporters.
