Youth Enrichment Centers: Homework Club End-of-School Zoom Celebration

On May 28th, the Homework Clubs at Los Medanos Village, Lakeside, and Garden Park Apartments came together virtually, to celebrate the end of a distance-learning school year. Students, volunteers, and Youth Enrichment Coordinators spent a fun afternoon together. The children in Homework Club enjoyed a Panera lunch provided by Christ the Lord Episcopal Church in Pinole. First Church of Christ, Scientist, in Pleasant Hill, provided goodie bags filled with treats. A special thanks to our church partners for helping make the day special and a great big shout out to all our Homework Club volunteers for their support this year:

When not operating the Homework Club, Youth Enrichment Coordinators (YEC) provide educational advocacy for children and train and support parents to become strong advocates for their children. They coach parents and support them at IEP meetings, set up and attend weekly meetings with school personnel, and work closely with teachers to promote academic success. The Youth Enrichment Program team is transitioning to offering summer camps for Hope Solutions’ youth, and will resume the Homework Club in August.
