Our work to end homelessness and transform lives is only possible because of the unwavering support of our community, dedicated staff, and—crucially—our volunteer board.
We are thrilled to announce that Stephanie Bontemps will step into the role of Board Chair, succeeding Don O’Neal. Don’s leadership over the past four years has been instrumental in Hope Solutions’ tremendous growth and impact. We are grateful that Don will remain on our board, continuing to offer his wisdom and guidance.
Don joined our board in 2016, at a time when Hope Solutions was serving just over 1,100 clients with a $2.9 million budget. By the time he became Board Chair in 2020, we had grown to reach more than 1,300 clients and increased our revenue to $7.8 million. Today, thanks to the collective efforts of our team and Don’s steady leadership, we serve nearly 4,000 clients, with a budget exceeding $20 million. Don’s passion, wisdom, humor, and commitment have shaped Hope Solutions’ trajectory, and we are deeply grateful for his extraordinary service.
Stephanie brings a wealth of experience and a deep commitment to our mission. A board member since 2010 and a steadfast supporter for over 15 years, Stephanie’s connection to Hope Solutions began through volunteer work at our Garden Park Apartment Complex with her church, Lafayette Orinda Presbyterian Church (LOPC). Her professional expertise, including executive roles at major financial institutions and academic credentials from UCLA (BA in Economics and an MBA in Finance and Accounting), will be invaluable as we continue to grow and serve more individuals and families in need.
The transition in board leadership is a reminder of the critical role our volunteer board plays in steering and guiding Hope Solutions. Our board members are more than just advisors—they are passionate advocates, strategic thinkers, and hands-on volunteers who shape our vision and ensure we stay true to our mission. Their dedication, insight, and leadership are the foundation upon which our growth and success are built.
From overseeing major initiatives like the opening of Hope Village Walnut Creek to supporting our expanding programs, our board’s commitment ensures that Hope Solutions remains a beacon of hope for those experiencing homelessness in our community. Their volunteer service is a testament to the power of community-driven change.
